Landscape grass is divided into injection-molded landscape grass and woven landscape grass according to the production process. Injection molded landscape grass adopts an injection molding process to extrude plastic granules in the mold at one time and bend the lawn with bending technology to make the grass blades equally spaced and regularly arranged in equal amounts with completely uniform blade height. Chemical composition

The raw materials are mostly polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP), but polyvinyl chloride and polyamide are also available. The leaves are covered with green imitating natural grass and need to add ultraviolet absorbers.

Polyethylene (PE): It has a softer feel, appearance, and sports performance closer to natural grass, and is widely accepted by users. It is the most widely used raw material of landscape grass fiber in the 21st century.

Polypropylene (PP): The grass fiber is harder and is generally used for tennis courts, playgrounds, runways, or decoration. Abrasion resistance is slightly worse than polyethylene

Nylon: It is the earliest landscape grass fiber raw material and belongs to the first generation of landscape grass fiber. The grass is soft and comfortable for the feet.


Material structure

Landscape grass is made up of 3 layers of material. The foundation layer is composed of a compacted soil layer, gravel layer, and asphalt or concrete layer. The foundation layer is required to be solid, non-deformed, with a clean and impermeable surface, i.e. a normal concrete field. Due to the large area of the field hockey field, the construction must deal with the foundation layer to prevent sinking. If the concrete layer is laid, expansion joints should be cut out after the concrete curing to prevent thermal expansion and deformation, and cracks.


Above the foundation layer is a buffer layer, usually composed of rubber or foam. Rubber elasticity is moderate, with a thickness of 3~5mm. foam cost is low, but the elasticity is poor, thickness 5~10mm, too thick lawn is too soft and easy to dent; too thin lack of elasticity, cannot play a buffer role. The buffer layer should be firmly pasted on the base layer, usually with white latex or universal adhesive.


The third layer, which is also the surface layer, is the turf layer. According to the manufactured surface shape, there are fluffy turf, circular curly nylon silk turf, leafy polypropylene fiber turf, permeable turf prepared by nylon silk, etc. This layer must also be glued to rubber or foam with latex. The construction must be fully coated with latex and pressed firmly in sequence without wrinkling.


In foreign countries, two kinds of landscape grass are common: 1, turf layer with thin leafy fiber, only 1.2~1.5mm; 2, turf fiber is thicker, 20~24mm, which is filled with quartz almost to the top of the fiber.
